description
The Clt (2-chlorotrityl) protecting group is more stable than the commonly used Trt group and is best deprotected by oxidative methods with Iodine resulting in a simultaneous disulfide bridge formation. It is therefore best used in the synthesis of cyclic peptides with several disulfide bridges in particular for the synthesis of the second S-S bridge.
